Business Consulting for Tech & Delivery

About us

Milling Stone was founded by Mathias Wulff when he saw the challenges faced by companies transitioning from start-ups to scale-ups, where long-term strategic leadership is needed to help navigate, but the strength to support such a position is achieved further into the transition.

Recognising that many organisations could benefit from access to industry veterans with battle-tested experience in transitioning habits and structuring processes, Mathias saw an opportunity. The original thought driving this impulse was simple: "How can we bring the voice of experience into these organisations?" This question continues to guide Milling Stone in our pursuit of excellence, helping clients of all sizes navigate the complexities of a well integrated tech landscape.

Milling Stone operates as a collective of professionals, engaging consultants on an ad-hoc basis to meet the specific needs of each client. Starting from fractional CTO services, we have since expanded to address a broad range of challenges when bridging business and technology across various growth phases.

A cornerstone of how we operate is our advisory board. Made up of highly experienced industry leaders, the board members bring deep knowledge and expertise to the conversation, ensuring the voice of experience is always present. This mix of the hands-on team and seasoned industry veterans ensures that Milling Stone's clients receive the best possible guidance to streamline their delivery speed and internal processes, habits, and tools.

Milling Stone’s vision is to connect growing organisations with senior industry expertise to help them align and grow. By allowing these organisations to tap into the voice of experience, Milling Stone aims to bring clarity and strategic insight, ensuring technology serves as a true enabler.for the rest of the business.

Why the name?

The milling stone, a seemingly simple yet ingenious tool, has been at the heart of human civilisation for millennia. From ancient times to the present day, it has played a pivotal role in the production of flour and bread. Crafting a milling stone was a rare and highly prized skill, passed down through generations of artisans. These master craftsmen understood the intricacies of selecting the perfect materials, shaping the stone’s texture, and balancing its weight with the available drive power to ensure optimal performance.

Just as the quality of the milling stone determined the efficiency of the milling process and the economic success of the miller, the quality of your technology strategy and it's successful execution can make or break your business. Harnessing the power of technology is not a choice but the first step away from failure.
